Summer Programs
(Camp 2008 will begin June 23rd and run until August 1st)

Our program for summer 2008 is filled with interesting and exciting camp activities and programs! If you are between the ages of five and fifteen there is something for you this summer at Applewild.  Be it a traditional day camp with swimming, games and crafts, to hiking or computers, there's bound to be something just right for you! We've brought back some favorites and added some new activities including a C.I.T program (Counselor in Training) for campers entering grades 8 or 9.  If you come for two, four or six weeks, this is sure to be a summer of fun and memories.

All of the Applewild Summer Programs are located at Applewild School, 120 Prospect Street, Fitchburg, MA.  Located on a lovely hill overlooking the center of Fitchburg, the twenty-six acre campus is close to the Flat Rock Audubon Sanctuary, a wooded area of many acres, complete with streams and nature trails.  On the campus itself are fields, playgrounds and even a frog pond!

JUNIOR CAMP
Situated in its own area on Applewild's campus, Junior Camp is for campers in pre-school or entering first grade.

While sharing many of the campus facilities, Junior Campers have their own play areas and play equipment.  Children are grouped by age and are supervised by staff specially suited for working with young children.

The daily program is comprised of a variety of creative and stimulating activities.  These include:
Instructional Swimming   -   Water Games/Activities  -  Nature Walks   -   Drama - Arts and Crafts   -   Games   -   Story Time   -   Free Play   -   Music   -  Dance

SENIOR CAMP
Senior Camp is for children entering grades 2-9, who want the routine of a traditional day camp, but want to choose their own activities.  Each camper starts the day in an age-appropriate group, but then heads off to activities that he/she personally selected.  There is plenty of time at recess and lunch to rejoin the group and on some days, the afternoon special will be just with the age group, but all activity periods are chosen by the campers themselves.

Activities offered for Senior Camp:  abracadabra, archery, body in motion, compu-quest, crafty creations, culture club creations, deco-clothing, dodge nerf ball, escapades, fab fine arts, fabulous fables from far away, finders keepers, game day, imagine it/draw it, instructional basketball, mad science, speeding along (Co2 cars), sports climbing, sports dabbler, Red Cross certified swimming lessons, the printmaker, wild blue yonder (rocketry) and woodworking.

DRAMA PRODUCTION CAMP
All campers of drama will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of a theatrical production.  They will be exposed to the many perspectives of theater including costuming, set design, scene development, and improv as they work together with professionals to create and perform their own production.  Each two week session will conclude with a performance.

We will be happy to mail you a camp brochure that includes the descriptions of the activities.
