Fouth Grade SliceMinimize

During the month of May, Applewild fourth graders will investigate their family heritages. They will learn about immigration to the U.S. and make connections to their own family histories. They will then focus on a country of origin, and do a multidisciplinary project about their chosen country. The culminating event is the fourth annual Heritage Festival where students will share food, artifacts, information, and pictures about different countries from around the world. This is always a highlight of the year.

Students are learning geometric terms relating to solids and plane figures as we progress through our math curriculum. We’ll focus on geometry, transformations, perimeter, area, and volume. Our final unit of study this year will focus on fractions.

We have taken fabulous field trips this year. From the Nashua River to Sturbridge Village, we have certainly learned a lot. Our final field trip of the year will focus on the laws of motion, physical endurance, velocity, and social interaction as we meander through Canobie Lake.
