Welcoming Remarks – Christine Cline

Head of School Report - Chris Williamson

Chris recapped the State of the School evening and addressed parent questions and concerns.

Chris reminded attendees of upcoming events happening at Applewild:

Ø  Irene Revis will be speaking at Applewild about Executive Functioning on Thursday, February 11 at 6 pm.  This is the third event of the Speaker Series.

Ø  No school on February 15 and 16.

Ø  Open House on February 18 at 9 am.  The fourth and fifth grade Winterfest will also take place after school.

Ø  Public speaking contest – Ninth grade speeches will occur Thursday evening, February 4.  Grades four through nine will listen to the speeches on Friday, February 5.

Ø  Chris will be attending the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) conference in California at the end of this month.

Admissions Report - Terry Perlmutter  

Ø  Terry reminded families that contracts will be due on March 3rd.  She noted that parents should be mindful of the deadline in order to help the school plan accordingly for next year and to allow admittance for new students interested in attending Applewild.  

Ø  Terry said the Admission Office has seen an increase of inquiries. 

Ø  Terry proposed that the PA help support the speaker series next year in terms of planning and marketing the event.

Treasurer’s Report – Jane Rish (Christine Cline gave the report as Jane was unable to attend meeting)

Ø  Checking account has $1,321.06

Ø  Savings account has $20,233.66

Ø  Two Logo bills and a school bill for food were recently paid.

Applewild Day at Barnes and Noble recap – Christine Cline

Ø  Christine thanked families, faculty, staff and students for their involvement in Applewild Day at Barnes and Noble.  It was a fun event where the students enjoyed showcasing their talents.

Ø  Gross sales were $2179.59 and the PA will receive $326.39.

Spring Rummage Sale – Christine Cline

Ø  The PA discussed an idea generated for a spring rummage sale.  It was agreed by those in attendance that it was too late to plan the event this year and it made sense to start marketing a spring 2011 Rummage Sale during the annual October Sale next fall.

Golf Tournament  - Christine Cline/Eladia Romero

Ø  The golf tournament will be held at Oak Hill Country Club on May 17, 2010.

Ø  There will be a planning meeting on Wednesday, February 17 at 8:30 am.  All interesting in helping plan the golf outing are invited and encouraged to attend.  Please note that you don’t need golfing experience to help with the event.
