WELCOMING REMARKS

_____________________________________________________________________________

Christine Cline welcomed all and asked everyone to introduce themselves.

WELCOME by HEAD OF SCHOOL

______________________________________________________________________________

Chris Williamson thanked everyone for coming to the breakfast.  He spoke about parent dedication, the core values of the school and how they relate to the core competencies.  He reminded everyone that all parents are members of the PA.  The time, energy and support the PA gives to the school and the community is appreciated.

PA GOALS AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

______________________________________________________________________________

Christine Cline spoke about (2) PA goals of (1)building community and (2)helping to support the school.  She introduced the executive team and spoke of upcoming events this fall to include Innisbrook, Rummage Sale and Harvest Fair.  She introduced Shannon Hogan Galinson, the Volunteer Coordinator.  Shannon asked everyone to fill out their volunteer forms.  Her main communication will be through the room parents.  Anyone that wishes to volunteer can either contact Shannon or the event chairs.

INNISBROOK

______________________________________________________________________________

Innisbrook chair, Marcia Lassila, informed all that the Innisbrook folders will be going out this Friday.  The event goes from 9/19-10/3.  Items come in prior to Christmas and she is looking for volunteers, approximately 2-3 hours, when items arrive.

HARVEST FAIR

______________________________________________________________________________

Aimee Dancause and Jamie Lasorsa are co-chairing the Harvest Fair.  They noted that the event will take place from 10-4 on 10/14.  They are looking for basket donations for the raffles.  Each classroom will donate a themed basket.  Volunteers are needed for the day of the event.  Time slots for volunteering are available in 2 hour blocks.

RUMMAGE SALE

______________________________________________________________________________

Darleen Lessard introduced Lisa Colarusso who will chair the event.  The sale will be held on 11/4 and 11/5.  Families are asked to donate unwanted lightly used house wares or clothing.  There will be a black and white table with items that the children can wear for concerts.  Set up will be Thursday and Friday in the large gym.  Volunteers are needed for set-up and the sale.

BRAINSTORMING IDEAS

______________________________________________________________________________

Christine Cline encouraged parents to brainstorm and share their ideas for events.  There is a suggestion box for those that do not wish to vocally share ideas.  Chris Williamson raised the idea of asking Bill “Spaceman” Lee to attend an event as this may be a good draw.  Ideas of AUCTIONS and TALENT SHOWS were raised.  Karen Johnson suggested contacting a florist to obtain carnations for Grandparents/Special Persons Day.

BOX TOPS for EDUCATION

______________________________________________________________________________

Chairs Deb Morgan and Becky Maskas shared that the school received almost $300 from the collection of boxtops.  In addition to boxtops, the school is collecting labels for education.  These are found on items such as Campbell’s soup, etc.  They asked that all labels and boxtops be sent into school in an envelope/bag labeled with name and grade.  Drop boxes are located in both the Marshall and Crocker Buildings.  LS students will be rewarded with “medals” for reaching certain goals.  Flyers will be sent out monthly through the e-velope.  All money collected goes directly to the school for the playgrounds.

TARGET - TAKE CHARGE of EDUCATION

______________________________________________________________________________

This summer, the PA received a check from Target in the amount of $500.  Christine Cline noted that you can either sign up on line or at check-out.  A percentage of what is charged on your Target card will go to the school.
