vÂWelcome – Lisa Bakstran, PA President

 

vÂCommunity Donation Awards – Lisa Bakstran

 

ØÂFitchburg Police Athletic League (PAL) – Dave Gordon of PAL accepted the PA’s $375 donation to his organization.ÂThis juvenile crime prevention program has run for a year and a half and benefits underprivileged youths in the Fitchburg area.

 

ØÂWorcester County Sheriff’s Dept. and Cleghorn Community Center Community Garden Initiative – Mark Leary of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Dept. and Lynn Clifford of the Cleghorn Community Center accepted the PA’s $375 donation to their community garden partnership, which is now in its third year.ÂVegetables grown in the community garden will be donated to a local food pantry through the Cleghorn Community Center.

ØÂThank You – Lisa Bakstran thanked Applewild faculty and staff who have supported PA efforts throughout the year as well as PA members who have chaired events and committees and parents who have volunteered and supported our many events.

 

ØÂBook Fair Update (Stephanie Janis) – The Book Fair raised $1,925.50 for the PA.ÂProceeds from this fundraiser have traditionally been used to purchase items for the school library.ÂNext year flyers will be sent home offering a preview of titles available at the fair.

 

ØÂGolf Tournament Update (Beth Lindstrom) – A total of 115 golfers participated in the golf tournament on June 2nd at Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg.ÂNet profits from the event are projected to be in the range of $10,000 - $14,000.ÂThank you to all who supported this fun, community-building event.

 

ØÂFaculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon and Recognition Gifts (Lisa Bakstran) – The Appreciation Luncheon will take place on Friday, June 13^th, and each year features a surprise theme.ÂThank you to Karen and Bill Garside, Laurence Bertone and Lisa Mueller for organizing this event.ÂThe PA briefly reviewed the types of recognition gifts given to faculty/staff and the corresponding years of service signified by these gifts.

vÂHead of School’s End of Year Report – Chris Williamson

          ÂThank you to the PA for fostering a sense of partnership between the school and Âparents and for helping to develop a sense of community through our work on common goals.ÂAs the school marked its 50^th anniversary this year, the PA was instrumental in supporting unique events to mark this milestone.ÂA special message of appreciation goes to PA Executive Team members who are stepping down: Kim DeFreitas, Michelle Janoschek, Elizabeth Trexler and Beth Lindstrom.ÂFinally, a sincere thank you to Lisa Bakstran for her leadership of the PA this year, as well as her many Âyears of support.
