Applewild School has introduced a pilot Merit Scholarship Program aimed at admitting students of exceptional academic caliber into the sixth grade program. The best candidates will demonstrate a history of strong academic achievement, strong character, citizenship and/or community involvement, and will possess talent or passion in an area of special interest. Up to two grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to top applicants. Additional partial scholarships may also be available depending on the qualifications of the candidates. Applicants who require additional financial aid are invited to apply for need-based financial aid to supplement this award. Students who do not qualify for awards will continue to be considered for admission to Applewild and may be eligible for consideration for need-based financial assistance.
Students entering the sixth grade in September of 2010 are encouraged to apply.
All candidates will be evaluated based on:
1) Current academic record of achievement.
2) Recommendation regarding the student’s behavior in terms of citizenship
and/or involvement in community.
3) Performance on the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam
(http://www.iseeest.org). In order to qualify for consideration as a finalist,
students must achieve a score in the sixth stanine or above on the test.
4) A campus visit and interview with an admission representative.
In order to retain the scholarship each subsequent year through graduation, recipients of the Merit Scholarship must maintain a minimum of a “B” (83-86%) average and continue to demonstrate strong attributes of citizenship within the Applewild community.

Emily Bracchitta
